the challenge
Following a successful cost base reduction programme with Procure4, the client engaged us for ongoing Procurement as a Service (PaaS) support. The aim was to strengthen cost control, reduce supply risk, and improve processes over a 12-month period. The acquisition of two new locations, each with separate supply chains, created the need to integrate operations. Aware of the risks of relying on single-source suppliers for key menu items, the client sought to mitigate its vulnerability to market fluctuations and supply disruptions.
SOLUTION
Over the course of the 12-month PaaS programme, Procure4 delivered a series of initiatives focused on cost control, risk reduction, and process improvement, ensuring the client could achieve both immediate savings and long-term operational benefits:
- Built a bespoke spend dashboard with integrated market index data to track spend, stock, rebates, and trends
- Negotiated long-term price agreements for core spend items, securing supply and improving payment terms
- Established monthly supplier meetings to address issues, explore innovations, and strengthen relationships
- Introduced alternative suppliers for high-risk items after testing and assessment
- Replaced in-house preparation of key menu items with pre-prepared ingredients to specification, reducing waste, labour needs, and safety risks
