SUCCESS STORY

Procurement vision saves £2million in Year 1

  • A large, well-known DIY and home improvements retailer.

our impact

The client had no in-house procurement function to support or engage with the wider business, so we were asked to define and develop a procurement vision and review the operating model. Our experienced consultants took full responsibility, working proactively across the business to build relationships, run activity, deliver savings and create procurement processes and policies.

We identified and delivered savings in excess of £2million in Year 1 across indirect business categories. Additional savings of £7.75m were identified to be delivered over 18 months.

the Business challenge

EBIT was asked to manage procurement activity across all indirect spend categories, drive business improvement and strategic development across the procurement function and improve stakeholder engagement across GNFR categories.

Our Approach

EBIT worked with the wider business to develop a Procurement Vision and future operating model. This defines our ways of working, the processes, systems and documents that are used

We established a Procurement team and function, engaging with stakeholders and wider business to deliver value and drive positive change in procurement practices

We implemented supplier and category excellence, defining what is expected and holding suppliers to account. We supported this with a framework for category management to drive sourcing best practice

We set up a procurement pipeline, both strategic and BAU, along with value delivery and reporting, to meet the needs of the business, drive commercial value and business improvement
